Training and fundraising continue

It's January 21st and I am working on my health and fitness in preparation for the BIG RIDE!! I have reached a stage in my life where it is much more work than ever to shed a few pounds, and I know that it's still winter, but reducing calories and doing some aerobic and weights should move the scale, right? I will continue to plug away at it, as I am determined to be in good shape for this ride...it is a big goal for me and I really want to raise the money to be able to complete our classroom block project. We also continue to fundraise for it and have received another generous payment from a local business...we are very grateful for them!! I would love to have others join me on the road to have some company while riding and help raise some money!! Anyone, anyone??!!

Update

Well, I have updated information, but can't quite figure out how to post it....we have begun our fundraising for the Big bike ride in September, and I want to update this thermometer, and can't figure out how to do it!!

Anyway, we have $250 raised specifically toward that ride and that goal, thanks to Anne Ostberg of Hartford, CT. Some letters have been sent out to area businesses and we are hopeful for some support from them as sponsors for this event!!

I am glad we started talking about this sooner than later; I have some hopes for raising good money for this project and hopes to move forward even more in Malawi in helping them in the area of education. I have been in touch with other organizations and am hoping to move forward with some work in Malawi on our next visit. Off to work soon...more later.

Karen's Ride for Malawi

The New Year is upon us and I plan to really start 'gearing up' for it and preparing for our year of fundraising. A big event being planned is that I, Karen, will ride my bicycle 500 miles to raise money and awareness about the education conditions in Malawi. We are hoping to complete our current project this year so that the children have a classroom to be in for the next school year. I will be riding through 5 New England states to promote, advertise and gain sponsorship and money for Educate Malawi.
