9:00 Sunday morning...this time tomorrow we will be waiting at JFK to get on the plane!!! Stephen and I are very excited and just anxious to get on the plane to start this journey...we have our bags mostly packed, about 150 pounds of supplies to bring with us to the children at the schools we will visit. I only hope we can carry it all; that will be the challenge!!! Next time we write we will be in Lilongwe where we will stay overnight upon arrival in the Country. Be well all!! Karen's Ride 2013

Starting on August 31, Karen Hardy will set out on a 500 mile bike ride to raise awareness and funds for Educate Malawi, Inc.

This will be the third of such rides that Karen has done to raise funds for the non-profit. Last year, she clocked 446 miles and rode the coast of Maine from Kittery to Calais. In 2011 she rode 421 miles in 8 days riding through MA., CT., RI., NH., and VT.

This year, she will be riding through 3 more states to add to the list; NY, PA, and NJ...in that order. Again, 8 days of riding with a goal of 500 miles! If the weather does not get in the way, hopes are high for reaching at least last year's number of miles if not higher.

Help us to EDUCATE MALAWI!!

The project the organization is currently working on is the funding of a teacher's house in Zomba. With this structure, at least one of the 7 teachers at the school will not have to walk 9km to and from the school in order to teach. The District Educate Office and the community has decided that this will best serve their students, as their teachers are not always able to teach their best due to this challenge.

Donations raised from Karen's Ride will be applied to this project.
